Template 1: Responding to “Recommend a LinkedIn tool”
I've spent a lot of time on LinkedIn engagement tools, so here's my
honest breakdown:
For content scheduling: Shield is solid and affordable ($12/mo) but
limited to scheduling.
For outreach automation: Waalaxy is good for cold sequences ($37/mo)
but doesn't help with organic engagement.
For engagement specifically: This is where most tools fall short.
Finding relevant posts to comment on and drafting authentic comments
is still mostly manual for most people.
Full disclosure: I'm the founder of GrowReach — we built it specifically
to solve the engagement gap. It finds relevant LinkedIn posts in your
niche and drafts comments that you review before posting. Starts at
$19/mo. But I'd also look at Taplio if you want a broader content +
engagement suite ($39-60/mo).
What's your primary goal — personal brand growth or lead generation?
That changes which tool fits best.
Template 2: Responding to “Taplio alternative” or competitor complaint
Yeah, Taplio's pricing jump is rough, especially if you're solo or
early-stage. I went through the same frustration.
Here's what I found looking at alternatives:
- Shield: Great for scheduling, no engagement features ($12/mo)
- PhantomBuster: Good for scraping/outreach, complex setup ($69+/mo)
- Waalaxy: Solid for outreach sequences, no engagement side ($37/mo)
- Lempod: Focused on pod engagement, limited and can feel artificial
The gap I kept hitting was that none of these solve the "find relevant
posts and write genuine comments" problem. That's actually why I built
GrowReach (full disclosure: founder here). It finds posts in your niche
and drafts comments you approve before posting. $19/mo to start.
But honestly, if scheduling is your main need, Shield at $12/mo might
be enough. What's your biggest pain point right now?
Template 3: Value-first post (no product link)
Title: I spent 3 hours/day on LinkedIn comments for 30 days. Here's
what I learned (with data).
Body:
I tracked every LinkedIn comment I made for 30 days. Here's the data:
Total comments: 847
Time spent: ~90 hours
Posts that generated profile views: 12
Posts that generated DMs: 3
Posts that generated zero engagement: 631 (74%)
Key findings:
1. Commenting within the first hour of a post gets 10x more visibility
2. Comments that add a data point or contrarian view get 3x more upvotes
3. "Great post!" comments generated zero profile views. Ever.
4. The 80/20 rule applies: 20% of my comments drove 80% of all engagement
5. Best time to comment: 8-10 AM Tuesday-Thursday (US timezones)
My process (you can copy this):
1. Set up Sales Navigator alerts for your ICP keywords (free trial works)
2. Check alerts each morning — filter for posts <1 hour old
3. Read the post fully before commenting
4. Add a specific data point, contrarian view, or follow-up question
5. Never use templates — each comment must reference the specific post
6. Track which posts drive profile views in a simple spreadsheet
P.S. I'm building a tool to automate steps 1-4 (finding posts and
drafting comments) because doing this manually burned me out. But
the process above works — it just takes time.
Template 4: “Why I built this” founder story
Title: I was spending 3 hours/day commenting on LinkedIn. So I built
an AI tool to do it for me. Here's what I learned.
Body:
Six months ago, I was manually commenting on LinkedIn posts for my
SaaS. The strategy worked — I was getting 5-10 profile views per day
and 2-3 DMs per week. But it was eating 3+ hours every single day.
I tried existing tools:
- Taplio was great for content scheduling but didn't solve engagement
- PhantomBuster could scrape posts but couldn't draft authentic comments
- Manual monitoring was burning me out
So I built GrowReach. It:
1. Monitors LinkedIn for posts matching your ICP keywords
2. Finds relevant posts in real-time
3. Drafts comments in your voice that you review before posting
4. Tracks which posts drive the most engagement
What I learned building this:
- AI-drafted comments need human review — sending raw AI comments
gets you flagged and feels inauthentic
- Timing matters more than volume — 5 well-timed comments > 20 random
- The 90/10 rule applies on LinkedIn too: 90% value, 10% self-reference
If anyone wants to try it, I'm offering 30-day free trials for
feedback. No credit card required. Would love your input on what to
improve.
Template 5: Parasite SEO comment (for Google-ranking threads)
The best approach depends on what you're trying to do — grow your
personal brand or generate leads. Here's what's worked for me:
For personal brand growth:
- Comment on 5-10 posts per day in your niche (within first hour of
posting for max visibility)
- Add specific data points or contrarian views, not "Great post!"
- Post original content 3x per week minimum
For lead generation:
- Use Sales Navigator alerts to find your ICP's posts
- Comment with genuine insights, not pitches
- Move conversations to DM only after establishing rapport in comments
Full disclosure: I'm the founder of GrowReach — we built a tool that
finds relevant LinkedIn posts and drafts comments for you to review
(growreach.app, starts at $19/mo). But the strategy above works
manually too — it just takes more time.
Also worth checking: Shield for scheduling ($12/mo), Taplio for
content + engagement ($39/mo), Waalaxy for outreach ($37/mo). Each
solves a different piece of the puzzle.
Template 6: “Day X” build-in-public milestone
Title: Day 45. GrowReach just hit 20 paying users. Here's what actually worked.
Body:
45 days ago I launched GrowReach on Reddit. Today I hit 20 paying
users at $19-49/mo. Not life-changing money, but it feels unreal.
What actually worked:
1. r/micro_saas milestone posts (3x better engagement than r/microsaas)
2. Answering LinkedIn questions in r/EntrepreneurRideAlong with zero
product mentions — people clicked my profile out of curiosity
3. Cross-posting the same milestone with different angles per subreddit
4. Replying to every single comment on my posts (drives algorithm)
5. Using Stripe public profile links for proof (not just screenshots)
What didn't work:
1. Posting in r/SaaS (too noisy, posts get buried in minutes)
2. Dropping links in comments (got warned by a mod)
3. Generic "check out my tool" posts (0 engagement)
4. Posting on weekends (dead audience for SaaS)
The math: 20 users x $29 avg = $580 MRR in 45 days. Organic, $0 spent
on ads. All from Reddit.
If anyone's thinking about launching on Reddit, happy to answer
questions about what worked.
Template 7: Cold-vs-warm data contrast
Title: Manual LinkedIn comments vs AI-assisted: I tracked both for 30 days
Body:
I ran an A/B test for 30 days. Same LinkedIn account, same ICP, same
content strategy. The only difference: one week manual, one week with
GrowReach (which I built — full disclosure).
Manual approach:
- Time: 2 hours 47 min/day average
- Comments posted: 312
- Profile views generated: 41
- DMs received: 4
- Cost: $0 but 14 hours/week
AI-assisted approach (with human review):
- Time: 38 min/day average (4.3x faster)
- Comments posted: 847 (2.7x more)
- Profile views generated: 127 (3.1x more)
- DMs received: 11 (2.75x more)
- Cost: $19/month + 3.2 hours/week
The surprising part: the AI-assisted comments got MORE engagement per
comment, not less. Why? Because the tool surfaces posts I would have
missed manually, and the drafts give me a starting point that I edit
to be more specific and insightful.
The key: I review every single comment before posting. Raw AI comments
without human editing would get flagged and feel robotic. The human
review is what makes it work.
